Offered is a super rare Mid Century Modernist desk by Imperial Furniture.
Imperial Furniture has been producing quality products since its founding in 1903, mostly from mahogany. Top quality craftsmanship and Modernist design.
Desk has original brass hardware, sculptural sled legs, 3 large drawers and gorgeous mahogany grain patterns. The double drop leaves offer tons of additional surface area when needed. The desk is solid and sturdy and shows only minor signs of wear. It has been cleaned and re oiled with a beautiful finish. I have yet to find more than 1 other of these desks after weeks of searching. From my research it looks like Imperial produced mostly traditional furniture and hardly any Modern. This desk measures 44"w x 25"d and each leaf measures 14" which allows desk to open to a full 72" if needed. This looks to me to be dated from the late 1940s to the early 1950s.
